Crash Facepalm's Convention Progress Report
Greetings, fellow space travelers! It's your favorite astronaut reporter, Crash Facepalm, reporting live from the science fiction and fantasy convention. As always, I'm here to give you a rundown of the latest happenings and mishaps at this year's event.
#SciFiCelebs
First up, let's talk about the star-studded lineup of sci-fi celebrities in attendance. We've got the one and only George R.R. Martin, who has promised to reveal the ending of Game of Thrones to anyone who buys him a drink. And speaking of drinks, Nathan Fillion is here, bartending at the official convention bar. He may have played a space cowboy on TV, but he mixes a mean margarita.
But it's not just actors and authors in attendance. The real highlight for me was meeting my childhood hero, Commander William T. Riker himself, Jonathan Frakes. Unfortunately, my attempt at a smooth handshake ended with me accidentally slapping him in the face. Whoops.
#FantasyFails
Of course, no convention would be complete without some hilarious mishaps. One panel on "How to Train Your Dragon" had to be canceled after the presenter accidentally set fire to the stage with a flamethrower. And during a cosplay contest, someone dressed as Gandalf accidentally tripped and fell on stage, taking out the entire fellowship of the ring with him.
But my personal favorite fail happened during the "Star Wars vs. Star Trek" debate. Things got heated when William Shatner and Mark Hamill started arguing over which franchise was better. It all ended with Shatner throwing a chair at Hamill, who deflected it with a lightsaber. Needless to say, the security guards had their hands full breaking up that fight.
#FandomFun
Despite the mishaps, this convention has been a blast. I've met some incredible cosplayers, including a group dressed as the entire cast of Firefly (yes, even Wash). And the vendors' room is packed with all sorts of geeky merchandise, from Harry Potter wands to Doctor Who sonic screwdrivers.
But the real highlight for me was finally getting to meet my fellow #Browncoats. We spent hours discussing our favorite episodes
